  • To apply, you must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or protected person, aged between 15 and 30 at the time of your application.

  • Please complete the application form provided on this page. If you are selected, further instructions related to onboarding and joining the team will be provided.

  • As a member, you'll have the opportunity to:

    Actively Engage: Share your unique perspectives (and expertise!) with Senator McPhedran on issues that you are passionate about and that align with the goals of CCYF.

    Connect with Like-minded Youth: Be part of a vibrant community of young Canadians who are passionate about equality and social justice.

    Expand Your Connections: Engage with civil society organizations, government entities, and global agencies such as the United Nations.

    Build Your CV: Volunteer in roles within the Council, adding valuable experience and expanding your skillset.

    Contribute to Democracy: Play an active role in increasing youth engagement in the Senate of Canada.

    Grow and Learn: Gain hands-on experience working with national and internationally-focused peers on projects that matter to you.

  • Your time commitment is based on your academic and life priorities.

    Members must keep regular communication with the CCYF Team and the Office of Hon. McPhedran and work on focus areas of interest. Senator McPhedran, a former university professor, recognizes that your professional and academic priorities must come first!

  • Membership is free. To eliminate financial barriers for travel to conferences, the Council will assist, as much as possible, in finding financial support and bursaries to enable participation.

  • Applications are evaluated based on a comprehensive review process that considers several factors, including:

    1. Alignment with CCYF's mission and goals.

    2. Demonstrated interest and experience in areas relevant to CCYF's work.

    3. Commitment to contributing positively to CCYF's initiatives.

    4. Clarity and thoughtfulness in responses to application questions.

    The evaluation process is conducted by a selection committee comprised of the CCYF team and staff from the Office of Hon. McPhedran.

    All decisions made are final, but unsuccessful applicants are encouraged to apply again in the future.
